World Co., Ltd. opened its first store under the FLAXUS TOKYO name on April 25 in AEON MALL Suzhou Wuzhong (Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province). FLAXUS TOKYO is the first global store targeting China’s young families.

Under the concept of “A Touch of Tokyo,” FLAXUS TOKYO will present a variety of lifestyles reflecting current Tokyo trends to China’s young families including men and women in their 20s, 30s and 40s. It will be developed as a global store in which families can enjoy not only buying products but also intangible values such as service and experience.

World currently operates about 120 retail outlets in China, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong, primarily through the department store channel. Consumption in China is being led particularly by a new demographic group of married couples born after the 1980s – known as the “Bā Líng Hòu (post-80s)” generation – who have adopted new values and lifestyles. They have expanded consumption in China and spurred the development of large-scale shopping centers catering to new market needs. World established World Fashion (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., or World China, on December 31, 2013, to drive further growth in its overseas retail business, with World (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. also known as World Cambodia, eyeing future business development in the ASEAN region. These moves are intended to boost the company’s initiative to open new stores in the promising high-growth markets of China and the ASEAN nations.

  1. Core target: Young families with parents in their 20s, 30s and 40s
    World will provide items specifically tailored for families, and centered on women in their 20s, 30s and 40s. These women constitute the core customer demographic for shopping centers and possess their own set of values as they pursue affluent lifestyles. The target also includes their husbands and children.
  2. A place for presenting a variety of lifestyles that provide a sense of current Tokyo trends
    The store has two zones for women’s apparel: the Daily Comfort Closet, offering basic and contemporary items that add color to everyday life, and the Urban Style Closet, where customers can discover a new sense of identity by mixing and matching various elements of the latest trends, such as patterns, materials and colors. Two additional zones – the Men’s Closet and Kids Land – present quality lifestyles in which the entire family can get a sense of the current trends in Tokyo.
  3. Providing an environment for enjoying “koto consumption” to strengthen family bonds
    Families can enjoy both shopping (consumption of material values) and “koto consumption” (consumption of intangible values such as service and experience) at the store, which has an original digital drawing tool called “BIRD WORLD.” Through this completely new form of interactive digital art, customers can see the pictures they have drawn come to life on a monitor screen. Drawing pictures together will bring art closer to children and provide an entertaining shopping environment for the entire family.
